Conquer the CrashBy Robert Prechter
Ignore this book at your own peril! Robert Prechter illustrates his case for why we are heading for rough times ahead. A renowned financial forecaster, Robert Prechter explains how to survive and prosper in the coming deflationary depression. The book starts out by offering convincing proof of why we are heading for an economic calamity. Much of this proof comes from Elliott Wave analysis and contrarian philosophy. Prechter offers such a comprehensive analysis that it would be extremely difficult to come up with a rebuttal to these views. The second part of this book is concerned with how to protect your assets and profit in the coming upheaval. Prechter discusses how to find a safe bank, what to do with your pension plan and what investments to avoid. Also discussed is what plans should be taken at the bottom of the depression. Robert Prechter’s basis for forecasting a major bear market is that the global economy is in a massive credit bubble, caused by rampant and irresponsible borrowing. Additionally, Prechter shows that stocks are highly overvalued compared to historical averages. Elliott Wave analysis is used to show that stocks have completed the fifth and final wave of the bull market of the last century. Contrarian philosophy comes into play when Prechter demonstrates that investor have irrationally high expectations for future stock market returns. Conquer the Crash offers a well thought out analysis of the coming financial crisis. One thing this book does not contain, however, is a method of telling WHEN the bubble will pop. That part is left to the reader to find out. All in all, Conquer the Crash is a mandatory read for any investor or trader.
